Challenge

Dote Coffee Bar needed static image designs turned into a responsive, accessible, and usable website that maintained the right branding and allowed users to buy products directly off the site, all without running slowly.

Since this website involves people buying products, keeping it secure was of utmost importance.

We also needed to make sure content was high quality, to make it both readable for users so they could understand it easily and useful for search engines so they can show it to relevant users.

Solution

We used an altered WooCommerce theme that uses the minimal elements needed for the shopping system to work to minimize how much users have to download to use the site. We further optimized the website by changing the way scripts like jQuery were loaded so that they load faster and do not block loading the main page itself.

We used responsively-loaded images to load the smallest image big enough to show in the user's browser window in full quality so large screens can get great quality images without slowing down smaller, mobile screens.

For security, we used security headers and content security policies to keep the general site itself safe from cross-site script hacking and configured the shopping system so that all credit card information was sent directly to a reputable, secure, proven service.

To help us attract and retain customers, we have implemented in-depth keyword research to identify the strongest set of keyword phrases to help us become as prominent as we can on relevant searches in search engines like Google.

We continue to update and maintain the website.

Results

Dote Coffee Bar's website has a 96% A PageSpeed score and B 87% YSlow score on GTmetrix and has an A ranking on SecurityHeaders.com.
